...yes, i'm aware of the dickwolves debacle. i'm speaking specifically of mike and jerry actually threatening someone with rape, do you have a direct link to that? because <lj user="shotie" has talked about this multiple times without ever backing it up and i'm preeetty sure that would be all the fuck over the internet if it had ever actually happened.

Mike and Jerry outright threatening rape themselves, no. What it seems like to me is that an immature joke got out of hand and that they dealt with it immaturely in a way that, however, accidentally, unconsciously, or implicitly, did support rape culture. But the dickwolves debacle (and some of their earlier strips) is the only time I've heard of them being associated with it.

The thing that has shocked me most about this debacle is how little the PA guys want to take responsibility for the fact that they aren't just dudes anymore, but celebrities that represent a media empire, and consequently they have to think about how their words affect not only themselves, but those they work with and support. Each dumbass comment takes money out of Kiko's pocket, out of the pockets of their employees, and possibly deprives the Child's Play kids of more donations. It's incredibly selfish to willfully ignore this because you think you should have the right to be inflammatory to the internet.

Also, Gabe is just such a bully to people - during this whole thing he posted so many links to people in his twitter while making fun of them. Of course his minions piled on the blog authors of the links and started a big ol' hatefest. He's said before, during the Jack Thompson shit, that he understands he can wield his fans like a sword, and he does so. How does stomping over someone who disagrees with you via sheer force anything BUT bulllying?

Also yes, you need to understand that Gabe is so out of touch, he honestly defended Pick-up Artist behaviour for a hot minute. Classes in which men are taught to treat women as animals, and that you must break down their confidence, or 'neg' them sometimes in order to keep them in line. It was mostly due to a huge misundertstanding for what PUA actually is and does, but he does that a lot - passes judgement or defends something without really do any research. He's a very 'surface' guy. He did give out a sort of half-apology about that later though.

Me and my BFF are exactly like them. And not the real guys, but the comic characters. And, we live literally around the corner from the PA offices and we see them all the time at the delicious korean taco truck on Wednesdays and they recognize us now and it's all highly surreal.

Anyway.

Despite all of this, I would not be adverse to reading ridiculous slashfic of comic!flavor Gabe and Tycho. Or possibly even writing it, as long as it was funny. And then printing it out and giving it to them when they are buying tacos, so we can all have a laugh.

hahahahaha, don't worry. That's the sort of thing reserved for their actual friends to do to them, not me.

::shrug:: IDK, these are the guys who hold a Dickerdoodles competition every year and write their own avatars as having magical rainbow pony dreams and when I asked Gabe if he'd sign my foil Uranus Bella Sara card, he said "heh, uranus, awesome" and they pall around with Scott Kurtz, so I'm certain that the whole concept has been brought up to them before and somehow I don't think they'd be overly offended if there was slashfic about their fictitious counterparts floating around out there.

They're just kind of... not celebrities to me? They're more like the awesome weirdos who work down the street. Khoo terrifies me, though.

I'm well aware of the boundaries, though. It kinda throws me for a loop when fannish folks talk about making a scrapbook or a care package to send to a celebrity, and this is about 13 levels creepier.

One time I whambamthankyoumaam walked straight into Khoo when he was in full-on PAX mode, suited up and talking to like seventeen people at once. Our eyes met and he looked deep into my soul, and squeezed at least four years off of me. I staggered away, grateful that I didn't need to change my pants.
