I was actually attracted to Johnny Depp in Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Normally the man does zilch for me, but hot damn, he was worked for me as Sands.

We so rarely get to see him play evil--or at least amoral--that I just thought it was fascinating. Admittedly, he's the undisputed love of my life, so take that with a grain of salt, but still. Such a BAMF scene-stealer. (And when I ran into RobRod at Borders once, I squeed at him how much I adored Sands, and he was rather amused. True story.)

I love him in truly quirky roles (Cry-Baby, Arizona Dream, Ed Wood) but it really was great to see him play a character like Sands. I'd love to see him break away from Burton and pirates for a while and work with Rodriguez or Tarantino (or anyone new) and take on something really unexpected.

If I were able to run into my any of my favorite directors who've created some of my favorite characters, I'd have done the same (and proceed to embarrass myself in the process)!

Absolutely! I love it when actors and directors can come together on successful, creative collaborations (such as QT/Uma and Cronenberg/Mortensen), but Johnny needs to do something different. He has the range for it, so I'd love to see him work beyond the comfort zone he seems to be in right now.

I admit I love him & Tim together because their BFFship is adorable, but I think I would positively cry with happiness if he worked with Quentin. Johnny doing his dialogue would just kill me with amazeballery. (And if it helps, we're FINALLY getting The Rum Diary this fall, and that's definitely not Burton-y. ;))

I love love love it when actors and directors collaborate multiple times together, but I would love to see something different. It's like being offered all the cake you could want, and it's great, but after a while, you want some pie.

Quentin should put Johnny and Uma in something (more Uma in everything, I say!). And I almost feel bad because I had been waiting for The Rum Diary for so long that I forgot about it. So, yes! That is something new to look forward to!
