THE WRITERS SUCK. They are coming up with these bad ideas on their own because nobody ever kicked them in the shins for writing crap when they were younger, and so there are terrible episodes to match these terrible ideas that many fanfic writers have outgrown.

Of course, I say this as someone not in Supernatural fandom. Who knows what you crazy kids are up to these days. :\

...I feel like I'm saying this a lot in this week's posts, but that's kinda not how TV writing works. OK, yes, this show is far more in touch with its fanbase than...basically any other show I've ever seen, but they don't base it ENTIRELY on what we want/think/come up with. Believe me, I'd be thrilled if Dean/Cas was canon and everyone just got naked, but (a) that'd be lazy as fuck and I'd be disappointed in them as a writer and (b) it's the CW, for fuck's sake, not Showtime. Just how much do you think they can get away with?! So...yeah, almost but no.

A bit late, but -- my boyfriend and I are of the opinion that season 6 is Fandom Appreciation Year. It's so very fanfic, so much of it. (Although 6.20 did go a long way towards stitching the season into something coherent.)
