Stop saying and doing creepy things, then, and you can stop worrying about being perceived as a creep. I don't get why this is hard. You're obviously not comfortable with your fandom habits staying as they are, so you need to change your behaviour to fix that.

Not even going to touch on the "males are automatically creepy" part. I think it's dumb, but we're all entitled to our opinions and at least you aren't a hypocrite about it.

I think the problem is that he think he's creepy by virtue of now being a male in fandom, not by virtue of what he's saying and doing. In other words, the only way for him to "stop worrying about being perceived as a creep" is to leave fandom.

Well, that's his own issue to work past, I guess. If his gender makes him feel uncomfortable in fandom, he should probably get out of it.

The point was: females and males saying and doing the exact same things are perceived differently. He's not saying or doing anything he wasn't doing before when he WASN'T "creepy."

Well, yeah. So what? There is a difference between a male saying something and a female saying the same thing. There's nothing unusual about the same words being perceived differently depending on who's saying them.
