I will never buy a game from EA. Not after that shit with Securom. Forgive me if I'm not willing to put my computer at risk just so I can line the pockets of the ~poor game developers~. But unlike some people, I can't afford to replace my system if it gets fried by a bullshit, illegal anti-piracy move.

I agree with this. I don't necessarily advocate piracy, but it really bothers me that actual customers get fucked with that crap.

Yes. In addition to that, the Securom incident pushed a lot of people who wouldn't ordinarily pirate to do so, just to avoid the risk. There's a reason Spore was the #1 most pirated game in the world when it came out, and this was it. EA shot themselves in the foot with that one...

This is true, but please believe developers don't have any say in what anti-piracy measures are enacted on our games. You don't have to be assy and put developers in special quotes, you don't even work in this industry and know how rough it is right now.

I may not work in it, but I know around 10 different people who are currently in it, and I get to listen to their complaints and fears and worries all the time. So yes. I do have an idea about how rough it is, and it sucks, but honestly, if you were looking for easy work, you could have gone into a field with better job security. (Not to be mean, but really, it's a crappy field to go into with so much competition and less demand given the structure of the economy right now. Props to you if you really love it, but it's not really fair to complain about how rough it is when it hasn't been a particularly safe job market for almost a decade. Especially to someone like me, who's bypassed every single career that might actually interest me in favor of looking at ones with high demand, promises of plentiful work, and decent salaries.)

The special quotes, by the way, were more intend for the people going "But think of the poor developers!" I'm sorry, but those developers (as a whole, I mean, not the individuals working on the project) earn more in a day than I do in half a year. Forgive me if I don't have a lot of sympathy.
