The problem is that a lot of people think it's okay to put joke-y warnings in the warnings field, or to list things that the fic contains but which don't really need to be warned for, simply to entice people to read the fic. Whereas others think that warnings should always be taken seriously - which makes sense, because that's the point of warnings in the first place. It's not an expression of homophobia in the vast majority of cases, just ignorance.

It probably won't stop until most coms where fics are commonly posted to explain how to correctly use warnings in the userinfo. The burden probably shouldn't be on com owners, but they're the ones stuck enforcing fandom etiquette like headers and warnings in the first place, so.
