This is really how I feel. Part of the reason MCoG is good is because of the pacing, the time spent paying attention to scenery and the characters marveling over things, how the characters spoke and were characterized and how much dialogue there was, how it was really something that adults could engage with and enjoy without feeling like they were watching a children's show. It's difficult to imagine children today sitting still for the show, not because it looks old, but because children today are accustomed to being blasted in the face with action and such.

You described the appeal of the series perfectly. Who knows, I will probably end up liking the new series as well since I like many modern cartoons. However, I doubt I'll like it for the same reasons I like the original.
