There is something about the way this secret is phrased that really bothers me. I think it's the "suddenly lesbian" part, as if you can just decide one day to be a lesbian.

Sadly, it's kinda how it feels. Most fandom thought of her as bi, and her storyline during the last episodes felt really forced. The author probably tried to fix it up quickly to satisfy the fans. Yeah, it sucks. =|

They weren't. It was randomly decided later, (most likely) just to please the fanbase.

Well, to be fair, the way that this storyline was written, it kind of feels like she was "suddenly a lesbian". It would have made a lot more sense is she was bisexual, but the writers doesn't believe in that.

That, or if Santana had taken longer to identify as a lesbian. There are lesbians out there who may have had sex with/been attracted to men at one point, but I don't think one goes from one week deciding they're confused and the next being 100% sure on one's sexuality.

Yeah, exactly, it was what happened to me in my persona life, to be honest.

I'm not naive, I know her lesbian storyline was a giant, big fanservice, but it is very possible for a lesbian woman has such a pass with men before accepting her own sexuality.

Oh, nobody says it can't happen. Homosexual people going for the oppposite sex for a while is very common, actually, until they understand/accept themselves.

But... It's just the feeling the show gives you, you know? Totally out of nowhere, absolutely forced. Sorry I can't explain it better. u.uU

Yes yes, I feel the same way. At the same time I indentified deeply with Santana's storyline, I also knew from the beginning that it was just to please the fans. Naya is a good actress and the story is probably the best development she had so far in the series, but it really didn't made much sense with her previous character development. :3
