TBH I would get annoyed pretty quickly if I were with someone that always paused the action to ask detailed questions about my consent every time.

This. I mean, maybe I'm just neurotic and overly anxious but I would probably start to feel like either they actually didn't want to have sex with me or were judging me for being overly horny.
Generally speaking, if the characters are eagerly undressing each other/grabbing at each other etc, I'm pretty sure they're consenting.

Agreed! Actually, I do find super!drunk!fic and love potion!/sex pollen!fic to be kind of skeevy a lot of the time.
