Okay, what exactly is wrong with the Homestuck fandom that is apparently not wrong in other fandoms? There's some anal retentive neckbeards and some immature tumblr kids, sure, but it's notably lacking in vicious ship wars, rl stalking, rampart misogyny, weird con drama and meglomaniacal bnfs like uhhhh most other fandoms out there (especially the excessively creepy live action drama fandoms, which people rarely compare to scum of the earth).

I suspect the misogyny is on the rise mostly because of some dudes' needs to show themselves as TOO COOL for the gigantic aircraft carrier S.S. CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL ISSUES that is bombarding pretty much every fandom at the moment. Coupled with dumbshits who still h8 Vriska, despite her 8eing fuck8ng awesome l8ly!!!!!!!!

...er, sorry.

But yeah, generally also agreed otherwise.

This is reasonable. I love Homestuck but I have to admit my Tier List For How Much I Love The Trolls correlates pretty directly to my Tier List For How Little I Hate The Trolls' Typing Styles. (I love Vriska, Karkat, Equius, Kanaya, Tavros and Gamzee, all of whom have typing styles that aren't hard to read and mostly centre around capital letter misuse with the odd number subsitution of vowels. I dislike/have no interest in Sollux (and his barely readable quirk), Feferi (and her quirk t)(at is so hard to read in the comic's monospace font), Nepeta (and her nauseating puns), and while I do like Terezi the fact that my eyes G14Z3 OV3R WH3N 4TT3MPT1NG TO R34D H3R SP33CH means I like her less than I ought to based on her character. The only exceptions are Eridan (wwho I hate even though his speech is fairly easy) and Aradia (wh0 I d0n't care f0r even though her speech is extremely easy to read, too.)

You know it's funny that you place Gamzee's style as one of the most readable when outsiders seem to complain about it almost as much as Feferi's or Terezi's. (Unless you're talking about Crazee? But... yeah D=) Hell, even Tavros is considered unreadable by many. I've honestly had no problem reading any of the trolls' text, but maybe I'm an odd case.

... I suppose outsiders have no problem with fandoms that like to stir up shit and wank so long as they remain accessible to gawking outsiders who need a lol. When you have the textual barrier (and a lot of fandom jargon like the quadrant shit) muddling things up, everyone else gets frustrated.

You know, I was going to come out with a WTF at people being unable to read Tavros' logs, but then I remembered there are people who even complain about Karkat's style, so... geh, I dunno.

But I have trouble considering the typing quirks any sort of valid reason for hating HS, because if I can get past Dave's complete lack of caps and apostrophes, anyone should be able to. (Seriously, you've no idea how much I hate people who type like that.)

Some people are just that intolerant of unconventional syntax, I guess.

(Or, I guess, are incapable of reading it without difficulty owing to learning disabilities, in which case I'm sympathetic to their excuse.)
