Au contraire, if they were really good at it, they would have turned their land into capital and still be exploiting the undervalued labour of the people to this day! ;p

If anyting, this is a good sign the OP's ancestors were more decent than most and couldn't make the transition from a form of pastoral care where they were still somewhat accountable for their actions, to our modern system where they can steal with impugnity. In other words, they weren't good enough at stealing and murdering.

It's a real possibility.

We'll never know but generally if you get into your head you're higher than the rest of the people (which is the basis of Feudalism, which really is a very nice term for medieval slavery, considering the peasants could not own property and owed most everything to the Nobles), it does funny things to you.

I don't get why so many of these comments are so vehement. The statement is mostly true if not slightly mean to the OP :/ And I say this as someone who can apparently trace back to some nobles in China.

What? I was complimenting the OP's ancestors, if anything. I was saying they weren't cruel and awful enough to make it in the age of imperialist capitalism.

I was half-debating that fact, saying they could have just been sloppy and incompetent instead of actually decent.

And I meant in response to the first comment. Yeah, it's mean, but I think it's valid.
