IA with your first point so much.

And if someone's a shut in, it's not like if you magically remove internet social groups from the equation, they're going be able to go out and do the same things you do and enjoy the same kind of lifestyle you do. A lot of the time, some kind of mental illness or other disability is involved, and it can be a huge improvement to somebody's life that there IS a social community that they can access.

I get it if the OP doesn't have difficulties going out, and doesn't know anybody who does, but fuck them for thinking that somebody shouldn't be able to socialize in a way they're able to just because OP isn't comfortable with it.
