In some cases I think it can be a source of inspiration, e.g. my own family motto essentially boils down to "don't wait for God to give you shit, go out and do it yourself." But echoing the reminder that pride in one's family, especially for positive achievements and skills by its members, doesn't mean arrogance, discrimination, or condescension towards another's.
