C'mon. They're acting like it's fucking special to come from nobility, like, what, millions of other white people? It's not the nicest history either, what's to be proud of? Like I said, it's just a bit of trivia, nothing to be that personally proud of.

Of course the OP will think their heritage is special, it's their heritage. It's part of who they are. They have every right to be proud of that, just like you have every right to judge the fuck out of them like a whiny bitch.

Hell, from reading what the OP had to say about their heritage, I'd be pretty damn proud of my relatives, too.

PLUS, they never said that they think it makes them more of a person, or that being related to nobility is in any way exlusive, they're just using the fact they're related to aristocracy to imagine their ancestors as being somewhat like the fictional characters they think are cool.

Parents are just as much a part of heritage as grandparents, and great great grandparents, so yes, it is the same. It just happens that OP's grandparents were nobles.

This. I don't understand why this bothers people - if I found out my family had castles I'd think it was awesome too. I'm like 1/16th Manchurian on my mother's side and I talk about this sometimes even though it has no bearing whatsoever on real life, because it's just really cool. There's nothing in the secret that suggests OP thinks her heritage is more awesome than everyone else's heritage; she's still allowed to think it's awesome, though. Because it is.

In the same sort of way, if I found out I was related to a Roman Patrician, I think I'd probably throw myself on the floor and have an excitement fit.

I knoooow that Rome was extremely classist and discriminated like fuck, but it's my favourite subject of study, and damnit I want some kinda connection to it.
