I couldn't imagine being able to survive, so I'm impressed, too. I'm glad she did, though! Enough people died then, haha;;

That's a shame. It'd be awesome if you could be all, "sooo I'm related to St. George the Dragonslayer" or something, lol. I'd like to trace my ancestry back to JESUS, but there's not much chance of that.

English is a pretty difficult language to learn, I think. So's Japanese and Latin, I think, because I can't quite grasp Latin grammar, and how many alphabets do you need, Japan.

haha all I can say is "I'm related to that guy you probably never heard of because all he did was taking care of his acres and people who lived there" :D

about Jesus: if we're all children of God, then I think that makes Jesus our brother so it's A PRETTY CLOSE RELATION ;D

so far Russian was the harders language I was trying to learn (which is funny because it's supposed to be like a sister-language to polish, with similar sounds and all buy GOD DAMN WHY DO YOU HAVE A SEPERATE LETTERS FOR "YE" OR "YA"?!)

Re: OP

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
So your ancestors weren't that good at raping and murdering, like every single other noble, then? Who'd have guessed?
(゚ペ)ゞ

I don't think the Church would be very happy with me claiming to be Jesus's sister!

The Cyrillic alphabet was too difficult for me to memorize, because all the letters looked too similar to the English ones.

oh man, I'd never have thought that this sercret whould cause so much rage ._.
i don't know if I sould apologise for the or than you for putting up with them
(i think a little both?)

I have a friend who's studying Japanese language and history. She's sometimes telling me some fun facts about the language but that's about all I know ;D

Re: OP

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
F!S retards stir shit over anyone that seems to actually have self-esteem. You should see the way they throw insults at people who don't think they're ugly, my god. It's a crime to have confidence in this place.

You shouldn't apologize at all. It's not your fault that some people use party poppers as tampons, or something.

Haha, well, I think history is really interesting! I try to study as much of it as possible, so if you ever want to know random facts about a country, just ask me!

Japanese is difficult because there are so many different dialects. Kansai-ben is my favourite.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2011-06-03 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
well, some on them still show some understanding if you talk camly (but GOD! it's taking me so much time to reply! constantly looking into dictionary for long and smart words I don't understand :B)

I'm european to the bone - ask me anything about germanic mythology :D

oh god don't tell me about dialects
I can't understand some in my own language! ;D

Re: OP

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you're a better person than I am, then. I'll only reply amicably if the person I'm replying to is being amicable.

Ohh, wow. Mythology is super awesome. What's your favourite myth?

Haha, I know, right? Us Englanders have some seriously weird slang, but I think the language itself is pretty universal.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2011-06-03 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
well, when replying is taking you 10 minutes you have enought time to overthink what you write ;D (and calm down. Positive aspects of having to be careful while writing ;D)

oh, now you caught me. I hope I remember it right:
when Thor lost his hammer and had to take it back from dwarves disguised as a woman(?) oh man I have to read Poetic Edda again to refresh my memory xD

I once tried to tell apart different dialects in English, and while I can sometimes hear the difference and still understand what it's said, I can't name the city which somebody speaking came from :D

Re: OP

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, well, you seem like a pretty reasonable person, if I'm honest! So I sort of don't like people acting as if you're OMG YOU SHOULD BOW TO ME O~HOHO~, especially since I kinda wish I had an ancestry I could trace back to nobility. Just so I could do the exact same thing as you, and imagine that they were awesome paragons of justice and went around saving damsels in distress.

Oh, Thor! That's... Norse, right? Like Yggdrasil? I don't know enough about Norse mythology, and that's a shame.

The only dialect in England that I can spot is... Scouser, from Liverpool, and that's because I hate it. :|;;

Aside from that, I can tell Scottish, Welsh, Irish, American and maybe Canadian.

haha!

you seem like a pretty reasonable person
well, I try ;D
and I practiced on my sister, that reason always beats emotions (but that doesn't mean I always win when we argue xD)

I used to hate british accent, but somehow it grew on me. and I always loved australian accent :D it's so sweet
Canadians have an accent? xD

oh, sorry
I'm starting to act weird. But I blame it on a late hour. It's almost 2 in the morning and in 4 hours I have to get up and go to work
I think I'll call it a day
goodnight :)

Siblings are all about rivalry, ahah! And light-hearted arguing is always good, if you're looking to sharpen your witticisms.
(*゚▽゚*)

Australian accents are sexy. ...( ゚,_ゝ゚)

Ahh, good night! It was a pleasure talking to you!

I know I'm super late with this and so off-topic, but YES. Dammit, Japan. (I can even see why it is that kanji is useful - maybe even necessary? - for differentiating between homonyms and it's easier to read more quickly ONCE YOU LEARN IT - and that katakana is also useful to clearly delineate loan words or create an emphasis - which then gets into why do you NEED to delineate loan words but that's another topic - and finally that there really aren't many spaces between words as there are in languages with the Roman alphabet so some kind of visual break is necessary, but none of this makes learning two syllabaries and thousands of kanji any less frustrating.)

It's a beautiful language, and I love it, but dammit.

Re: OP

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! It's lovely to listen to because jfksaf it flows so well, but MY GOD CHILL WITH THE KANJI. That could all potentially mean like four different things.

I like thinking up stupid ways to remember hiragana and katakana, though. Kanji is just something I tried to learn by gradually recognizing the common ones that show up. Apparantly, there're 40,000 kanji, or something like it, and. whyyy.

Re: OP

[identity profile] nalanzu.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
There's some ridiculous number that exists, but apparently if you learn approximately 2000, you can read 95% of the paper. If you learn another 3000, you can read 97%. My plan was to learn the two thousand and also invest in a dictionary, but then I found out that most of what I wanted to read came with furigana anyway, and I lost motivation.

There are also variety (game?) shows in which celebrities compete to read and define obscure kanji. There is more than one. I have seen them.

Re: OP

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Whether I try or not, I just... kinda pick it up, if I come across it often enough. Which is pretty convinient, even if slow-paced!

Latin is my main LEARNING GOAL for languages right now, but I do speak a fair bit of German from when I took it for school.

o japan, you and your weird game shows
