There is so much wrong with this secret, I don't even know where to begin. The idea that women who settle down with kids can't be "badass" is just as sexist and heteronormative as what you're railing against. I'd understand if you said something like, "I'd like to see more non-heteronormative couples on TV and it makes me sad that some of my favorite characters are being forced into this mold, I feel."

Second, your problem with characters having kids is that "no one should bring a kid into the world nowadays"? Seriously? Not the idea that society makes it seem like you have to have kids and a family unit to be happy, but that no one should be having children ever? How the fucking hell is that a solution to the problem you present? That doesn't prevent heteronormativity. What about all the homosexual couples who might want children through sperm donation or surrogates? Are they not allowed kids too, or is it okay since they aren't heteronormative?

As someone who does eventually want a family with children because I want to, GTFO.

this is an excellent comment. OP, there are very good arguments to be made for less TV characters settling down and having kids, but yours is not one of them. :/

Yeah, this. Trying to get start a lesbian family with my lesbian partner and not feeling particularly heteronormative, or particularly willing to "settle down". Perhaps I'm a baaad mother-to-be for wanting kinky encounters with strangers, or travelling the world, or doing activist work, or whatever, sure it's gonna be harder with kids, but it's not going to stop me being badass.

I don't want children and would love to see more childfree people portrayed positively in the media, but the way this secret is worded... ugh, ugh, ugh.
