The only intelligent thing I have to add is that I'm actually really horrified by what I've heard about Amy's pregnancy storyline and am surprised there hasn't been more outcry, because it sounds like Female Body Invasion 101.

My thoughts on River haven't fully gelled yet, but I feel like I would like her more if it seemed like she was doing all these epic things to make herself happy rather than to get the Doctor's attention.

Might be because thus far it's been presented as horrifying in the show? I dunno, might change this week, but yeah, the reveal that she's been pregnant all along was clearly meant to be srsly creepy.

The one thing that bugs me most about the pregnancy storyline (other than the fact that it totally conforms to Moffat's thing that I described above) is the fact that she's like "OK, guess I wasn't pregnant" and The Doctor's doing these body scans of her but not exactly telling her "ok, you might be pregnant and you might not." He's going "OK, this is weird" and ignoring it, and not trusting Amy to make these decisions about her own body. That, I think, should worry people more about The Doctor's characterization. It would be seriously creepy if it got further along in this "pregnancy" and it's like "OH, btw, you're having a baby now" or something like that.

The Doctor is not exactly forthcoming with information with Amy, the whole series 5 plot involved him lying to her about the reason they were traveling together- basically he knew her life was wrong (family members missing) because of the crack.

Him not telling her about the pregnancy could be justified with his suspicion that she was a ganger and it could put her in danger. But overall it seems the Doctor really does not trust Amy and continually treats her like a child.
