It's hard to understand if you're never felt this way or if you're generally not a very negative person, but sometimes complaining and being negative can be half (or more) of the appeal of experiencing a series. Hell, there are some things I've followed ONLY to complain about. I'm not familiar with the poster in question so this may not be the case with them, but hating on a series can be more entertaining than the work itself.

Also, some people just have issues with dropping a series once they've invested a lot of time in it. Even if it's boring and tedious you keep hoping it'll get better though you know it probably won't, and a part of you still wants the payoff of finding out what happens/seeing the end. The complaining makes it less torturous to sit through that in the meantime.

Glad this comment is here, because now I don't have to say it. I'm sorry if I ever seem like I'm trying to ruin anyone elses fun, but I get such a kick out of watching or reading things I dislike just to figure out the shape of my displeasure - I'm not enjoying this, now it's time to figure out why >:(

It's not as though I exclusively seek out things I'm not going to like. And it's not like I make up my mind in advance, either, though I often have expectations - the series in my icon, for example. I started watching it thinking 'I am going to loathe this and it will be hilarious to pick apart', and now it's one of my favourite things of all. I HAVE LOVE IN MY HEART, I swear, but gosh do I enjoy disliking things as well. I don't think this makes me a fannish baddie - it's just about not absolutely imposing your opinions on others, or getting carried into thinking less of someone just because they enjoy something you really really don't.

AHHHH I wrote a longer comment anyway, oops. But basically, I agree with you, forever_alone, though I can understand some of the frustrations being vented up thread. It's just about finding that right balance to enjoying things in your own personal way (even if that loops around to enjoying it through not enjoying it), and making sure not to attack anyone else for their ways.
