I consider myself childfree and I wish there were more women on TV like me. About 99% of the baby-related plot lines revolving around female main characters I've watched through have fallen completely flat with me.

That said, the "settling down" and "now the show is all about baby" stuff that comes with having kids on TV is the result of writing, not necessarily part and parcel with the process. Two of my busiest, most successful coworkers are new mothers and while our conversations occasionally drift toward babies (and though I'm childfree, I do like kids and certainly don't mind talking about them or looking at pictures of my friends' kids) and childrearing, they haven't broken stride post-maternity leave.

Mothers can be bad ass, hence the term "bad ass mother," right? Lest we forget: Sarah Connor!
