3. What's a fandom uke? I've never heard that term before!

5. You mean people are writin' Phoenix Wright-related stuff without playing the games? I mean, I can understand reading it, or looking at fanart (a friend of mine did before she got the game), but writing for a series when one has minimal knowledge beforehand just sounds a little odd to me. Like, I think it'd be tricky to nail Phoenix's nice-yet-inwardly-sarcastic nature if you haven't played through at least a couple of cases beforehand.

5. It's that way in just about every fandom right now. Case in point: 99.9999% of all of the stuff currently on [livejournal.com profile] ffvii_yaoi.

Ouch, really? I'd at least like to hope that people are trying to research canon before writing, and aren't randomly assigning characters personalities based on their looks.

Oh, no. XD That would be the LOGICAL thing to do. Seriously. There are a couple authors who write TONS of stuff that's badly-done and totally ooc...and they could have EASILY beaten the game several times in the hours it must have taken to write that schlock.

Good gravy! o_o I mean, would it kill people to at least check Wikipedia, or heck, even a strategy guide?

Even scarier is that most people who haven't played the games are probably basing their characterizations off of what they read in other fanfics, and if those fics are written by people who haven't played the games/bothered to research characters, and then those...

Eek, my head hurts now!

I think this is exactly what is happening in a great deal of cases. Just here to agree, I'm done now.

That community is so gay, in both ways.
