Muses? Yeah. Guilty as charged right here. And if you're looking for them, it may take a while. I understand that there really is no one sitting around in my head telling me what to do or not to do--but something's still there, almost like the proverbial 'shoulder angel/demon'. For a moment, think of the actor who must get 'in-character' to play a part--when I picked up RPing again after years worth of hiatus, I had to decide who I'd want to play. I picked a few that I could either relate to or just loved obscenely--from there you've just got to try and get into their heads (so to speak). How would the character react to this situation? --to that one? As you go on and try to gain a deeper understanding of them, when you start writing, it just sort of pops up...

"Hmm...well let's see, Character A needs to smex with Character B..."

Excuse you? I wouldn't do that! I barely know him! I'm not easy! if he wants me, he has to work for it!

"...oh...*rewrites* oops..."

--a wobbly example, but one nonetheless... So I guess it happens like that...or at least, that's how it did with me. It's just a whole lot of over-analyzation.

And even still, some people don't ever gain 'muses', ad can just drop ito writing characterization at the drop of a hat--I know people like that as well. So having or not having muses doesn't make you weird, it's just your own style of doing things.
