I'm just confused as to why some girls would rather female characters either "on the side and left there" because they're on the same level as a badass hero or "join in and kick ass" because she's too soft-spoken and fragile. It's all preference but it's really confusing to hear females complain about lack of girl action but when there is, the girls are "Sues" or something. :S

Word. It's totally possible to have strong (even kick-ass) characters who need saving, sometimes, as long as you have a villian worth their salt at all (See: Alias. OR Heroes. Or Lost). And that applies to both characters that are good at defending themselves but got out manuverd, or characters who can't fight worth a damn, but are awesome in other ways (Marshall on Alias, FTW!). Either is preferable to a girl (or guy, though that is rare) who just stands there going "OMG, my only purpose is to be weak and scared."
