Gridlock wasn't the episode that pushed my buttons, but I commiserate about being freaked out by something that didn't scare anyone else. I think I'm the only one I know who thought The Empty Child was really cool... and was horrified shitless by Father's Day.

Similarly, while I do have a bit of weeping angel trauma from watching Blink alone in my room in the middle of the night, I didn't find it as outright disturbing as Human Nature/Family of Blood.

So... um, basically, Paul Cornell is two for two when it comes to pushing my existential terror buttons, and I hope he never ever ever writes an episode for Moffat because I would never emerge from behind the sofa.

I hope corny Cornell never writes an episode again, because his are shite Doctor Who scripts.

They might be good stories (note:"might"), but they are not Doctor Who stories. The first thing he does is work out how to jettison the Doctor from the show and then he shoves some original characters in to tell their stories instead. That is the stuff shite fanfic is made of. He needs to go and write his own show instead, oh wait he tried with "Pulse" and it got rejected.

THIS. Doctor Who isn't just about the Doctor; it's also about his affect on the people he makes, how he changes them. And not even just his Companions, but also the people he meets briefly (the newest episode, 'A Good Man Goes To War', is an excellent example of this).

Let me guess, right around the moment where the old doctor turns into a gas mask zombie? :D Or was it "The tape ran out thirty seconds ago. I told them to go to their room. We're in his room."

I mean, I get why Moffat episodes are scary! They have me jumping at shadows and getting twitchy over everyday objects just like everyone else. But Moffat scares me in the way I like to be scared. Father's Day (and Human Nature, and for some reason Turn Left) reaches right down into my subconscious, grabs a handful of primal childhood terrors, and yanks.

It was the doctor thing, because I never actually got to see the second episode because it didn't record or got deleted or something... which almost made it worse. I was just like "how does it end how does it end?! /curls up in a corner forever"
