I love customization. It was impossible to find a face for my male Jedi Exile or femRevan that fit right for me. I had to settle, and that made me less invested in them. The Exile is the only time I've found myself liking playthrough as a female instead of a male character. Generally, I prefer the male PCs, just because I prefer to play my own gender. I don't insist that people conform to that, but I do admit to a moment of confusion when people talk about their Shepards and Hawkes as female because I usually only give them one or two playthroughs. I haven't even finished a female Hawke run jus because she doesn't feel 'right' to me. I can't really slip into her head the way I have with my male characters.
