No, being a "nice guy" was his M.O. for getting with girls. He tried it with others after me, he'd start spending time with them, acting like he cared about their thoughts, feelings, etc, and eventually make his move. I felt -incrediably- guilty turning him down, but I in no way wanted that kind of relationship with him. Then I watched as he went and did the same thing with girl after girl. He used his "nice guy" persona like a predator would. He didn't even like any of us in a friend-like manner, behind closed doors he was a woman-hating jerk.

Ugh, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I had to deal with a guy like that in college. Self-professed Nice Guys suck.

Was he also the type who constantly complained about how women only went for jerks?

Well, that's a whole other deal entirely. I would say that he wasn't just "like" a predator -- he absolutely without a doubt was one, 100%. I wouldn't be surprised if he's abusive when he's actually in a relationship. I think you might've dodged a bullet, anon. It really fucking sucks all around, but at least it never went further than his faux-friendship.
