This comment made me think it would be kind of fun to have fic where trolls (perhaps inspired by the humans) to start actually trying to come up with words for their various preferences. I could totally buy, I don't know, Karkat as having a preference as having matespirits the opposite sex to him and kismeses the same sex as him, or something like that. Not sure he could be bothered wasting the energy on coming up with a coherent identity for himself, though.

Nepeta would probably love the idea.

Karkat would think it's the stupidest fuckshit meatsack idea ever.

Equius would buy into it but start coming up with terms for his fetishes assuming he wasn't the only one.

I think Majutsukai hits it best though. Trolls attempting the assimilate the terms would actually have to make it more complex, since looking at it from their point of view, Hetero homo and bisexuality only cover terms in matespriteship and wouldn't necessarily be generalized to other quadrants.

Heh, i'm pretty sure if they only had the terms and no reference they'd assume it was a fetish towards hemo type and not gender
