Aw, hon. You're not pathetic. I didn't get mine until I was 18 either. And it was not only overwhelming, it was bad. Partner at the time was a smoker and decided tonsil diving was just a greeeeat way to go. I gagged and nearly threw up.

It just being underwhelming is actually pretty good ;) and totally normal. I know very very few people who have said that their first kiss was amazing.
