Oh haha, honey. Geez. Here is all you need to know about fic:

It's all just one giant Danielle Steele novel. You know those ridiculous corset-ripper novels you find in the grocery store? Would you take advice from those books about how sex or kissing ACTUALLY is? No, right?

Because fic is just a ridiculous erotic novel you can find in the check-out aisle, but with the character names being those from your favorite canon instead of Victoria and Lord Masterful or whateverthefuck. People will argue that it's written 'better', but in the sex scenes it's the same erotic lit tropes women have written about since they began writing erotic literature.

Just take it as a really vivid fantasy of what many women wish sex WAS, as opposed to what it actually IS. Ain't nothing wrong with fantasies at ALL, but don't get upset when reality doesn't meet it.

Oh, I should clarify - "People will argue that it's written 'better'" is meant to refer to the fact that people will argue that fic is written better than a romance novel, and I'd say for the characterization yes, but for the sex scenes: notsomuch. They read almost exactly the same, wether they be fic or $2 paperback.

Erotic lit tends to devour itself like an ouroboros - women who learned to write from reading erotic lit begin writing their own sexy stuff and mimic the sex scenes that they grew up reading, and end up playing this demented game of sex telephone where the sex scenes get farther and farther away from reality.
