The fact that almost all the sex is done with the woman on all fours and with the man positioned behind, and the large amount of rape scenes, is pretty much saying, yeah, you're right.

Not so much that, since the bottom can be dominant too, but in every sex scene...aside from maybe that one where the woman who was raped constantly forced herself on top, the women are not in control. And are always taken from behind, and the man is always the one who has any say. Every. Scene.

Yeah, but maybe that's because he's talking about a world where women had less rights than men. Am I wrong to think that you haven't read the books? I'm saying that because the sex scenes in the books are the most unsexy thing you can read. In fact, I wouldn't call them "sex scenes", there's nothing meant to be arousing in them.

The sex scenes in the series are the same way.

In some, they are plain unsexy. (Dany getting humped while she cries about how rubbish her husband is at sex, the hooker taunting Theon with his deepest insecurities) and in others there is an element of unease (Renly realises just how ambitious his bf is, Doreah and Viserys being cute and expositioning in a bathtub before Viserys reminds audience not to forget he's a baddie).

I think it's canon that Cersei and Jaime were fucking that way and that it's the Dothraki style. But it isn't really important. The sex scenes in the book aren't writen for the porn. At all.

And I don't remember if other couples have other styles.

This is more to do with HBO than GRRM. In the book, the Dothraki traditionally fuck doggy style but in other cases it's often ambiguous.

Personally, in the episode 1 Cersei-Jaime scene, I think Cersei should have been on top.
