The second-hand embarrassment is so bad. It doesn't help that IRL most people's reactions are, "You're a slash fangirl? ...Oh," and Becky perpetuates that.

Of course, it also doesn't help that some of our number get downright creepy and harassing at cons with that Yaoi Paddle, for example.

In an episode called "The Monster at the End of This Book," Sam and Dean come across a published book series called Supernatural that's about them. Eventually they come across slash and Wincest fanfiction on the Internet, etc etc.

In a later ep, they meet Becky (http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Becky_Rosen), a scary rabid squeeing Sam!girl Wincest fan obviously meant as a caricature of slash fans. They show an excerpt of her porny Wincest fic, have her literally stroke Sam, etc, and oh god I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cringe.

Okay, thanks. :) I got out of Supernatural very early into the fourth season, so I had no idea about this.
