Aura on everyone, with Quistis using Mighty Guard and you can't fail. I had Squall renzokukening and Irvine using pulse or ap ammo and it was over rather quickly.

This. And because the battle was so long, the Aura lasted forever. That definitely helped. :)

I think I tried something like this... Maybe my weapons are too weak...? But thanks, if I ever wanna give it another go I'll try this. :D

It's really worth the effort to play the card game and/or card enemies so you can use Quetzacotl's card refine ability to make spells. 100 tornados is a major strength booster, meltdown for vitality, and you can get those as early in the game as Balamb.

I spent hours doing that once, and from then on, every single battle was easy as pie, because at level 25 my Squall had a 1000 pt attack. I have that game saved so I can start new games from there, and I don't have to go through the whole process again, but man, was it worth it.

I first did this because I got so stuck at Adel I had to restart the whole game over again, and I just soared past her with this technique. That's why I love the junctioning system so much, your strength is completely under your control. The only really tricky battles for me were Ultima and Omega Weapon, and I managed those on the second and first try, respectively, too.
