Honestly, I've always avoided the anime because it diverges so much from the manga (which I really like). Alois and Claude are the only things that make me think I should give it a shot. :|a

I'd encourage you to give it a shot! I'm also a big fan of the manga, but the second season of the anime stole my heart, actually. It's a little bizarre, and the pacing is awkward initially, but the characters are more than worth it (in my opinion).

I honestly love everyone in this series...

And I adore those two and also Hannah, Luca, and the triplets. I actually wish the second season had focused mainly on them. We got all these great new characters and we barely got to know them at all. Thank goodness for the last ova, it was so filled with awesomeness. But still, it wasn't quite enough... T_T

Maybe they will be in the manga someday... *is hopeful*

Tell me all about why? For reals, because I don't get what makes either Alois or Claude so appealing, and none of my friends are watching/reading this, and I want to know why people love them so I can do it too.

a lot of people find Ciel to be grating (yeah, he can be, sometimes...) and dull after an extended period, while Alois is kind of an explosion of personality-- and he's all hot-bloodedness and gut instinct, the opposite of Ciel's cool calculation. As for Claude, I actually prefer Sebastian, but Claude is entertaining with his ultra-evilness (something that Sebastian never really got to have in the anime). Plus, they're both batshit crazy. Put them together, and you have a bucketful of tango dancing and wtfery.
It's like the series is about Grell instead of Ciel >_>

Yep. I like the manga better than the anime-- the plot's much, MUCH more stable-- but of the anime I thought that those two were far superior characters. Claude was way more evil; Alois was way more child-like and engaging; they were all-around more interesting.
