i exclusively play fem!shep for 2 reasons: mark meer and jennifer hale

Hahahahah too right.

That's the thing, though. I started out preferring her voice, but my second run of a male Shep, when the voice actually fit the character design, I fell in love with HIS voice. So. :P

I mean, I never use default character designs. I'm too set on being a special and unique snowflake. XD

i dunno i tried a few variations for dude!shep and it's just

mark meer is so WOODEN

he's like

i mean it's cool if you like it but i'm not going to pretend to understand

To be fair, the first run where I fell in love with his voice, my character was a muscle-headed dumb-as-a-brick generally-nice jock-type soldier. XD It fit the voice and the emotional range PERFECTLY, IMHO... 9____9; He's still my favorite Shepard... My first chick just turned into a bitch when she hit ME2, and my second one is super-nice and kinda naive and unabashedly optimistic and trusting to a fault... and she just DOESN'T suit Hale's voice.

But, just as my Scotirish shep very slowly grew into his voice (very slowly. I was still mentally reading the lines with an accent through to the end of ME1) I'm sure she'll grow into hers... eventually.

But yeah, that's me, too. If you like Hale's voice, awesome. I'm glad. I just... don't as much, anymore. I've grown to appreciate the subtle flexibility in Meer's voice acting. ♥

i tend to play like a 75% paragon who's not afraid to shut something down before it gets out of hand, up to and including capping the gangbanger trying to blackmail earthborne!shep

It does. And that's how I played my first fem!Shep. But then she got really bitchy for having to deal and be associated with Cerberus, even moreso without Kaidan around... (Seriously, there's something about Kaidan's easygoing zen demeanor that just kept me chill through the entire first game) and... then... ten times moreso when Kaidan acted like a jackass on Horizon... so...

YEAH I CAN SEE THAT. But I like me my jock Meer. ♥ He doesn't have the foresight to plan battles and just charges in blind with his guns, and I swear, the only thing he understands (by some weird miracle) is Quarians. ... idk what's up with that. O_____o; He decided that on his own.

I've always felt that's always been an unfair comparison - Jennifer Hale is frakking awesome and has been all over the place vocally, ANYONE voicing male Shepard to her female Shepard was going to come off less impressively.

nah, mark meer totally phoned in that performance, even if you don't consider hale's shadow over it

I don't think so - I played m!shep first, before I even heard Hale's performance, and was very unimpressed with it. He delivers the entire PS3 backstory intro in monotone.

Agreed. I was going to play both Shepards, but I made the mistake of playing femShep first. I can't bring myself to play maleShep at all especially after Jennifer Hale's performance. Mark Meer is so bland, and after the trailers/E3 demo I really don't think he's improved in ME3.
