(Anonymous) 2011-06-15 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)I take it that it's the red mist of righteousness/being caught out that has suspended your judgement for five minutes and had you chucking phrases like "blind shithead" around. You are hardly in a position to comment on the appropriateness or otherwise of anyone's vocabulary and intentions when you are using language like that as an insult.
For the record, I am from neither the US or the UK (though I live in one of them); however, I am visually impaired and am typing this on a reallllllly big screen using assistive software. If I had a pound for every time someone has used the blind = stupid/obtuse thing within my earshot, I'd be rich indeed. Unlike "twat", where the genital definition is increasingly arcane and unknown to most people, blind means the same thing all over; however, it's not worth my energy to be bothered by it most of the time. I make a presumption of mere thoughtlessness on their part and I will make a presumption of mere thoughtlessness on your part, since you couldn't have known, but maybe you should be less quick off the mark when giving other people the third degree about their language choices? You'd look like less of a hypocrite.
