Yeah I was just wondering that. If you hate somebody enough to post a secret like this about them, wouldn't you want to use the slur that would hurt them the most?

While I agree that people do use slurs like that purely to hurt people and I have been guilty of that when I've really lost my temper too, when you use a racial slur against someone you hate you imply that their race has something to do with them being hateful, rather than just the fact they're a jackass. Similarly with homophobic slurs. They reflect on you more than the person you're hurling them at.

This. I can see WHY OP would be so angry and spiteful that they would not respect the BNFs identity enough to use the right pronouns but that doesn't make it any less hurtful to the group as a whole.

That said I don't see anything necessarily wrong with using a female pronoun to refer to the period of time when the BNF in question identified as a female. Obviously the preferences of the person in question would trump that if they preferred that period of their life to still be referred to with male pronouns, but since the OP is clearly pissed at the person in question I doubt they know what their preferences are. I'm not sure the choice of pronouns is evidence either way about the OP's attitude to people who are transitioning. The way their transition seemed to be tossed in as one more thing that makes this person a jackass was more uncomfortable to me than the pronoun use.
