I think mhy reading comprehension is on the fritz today, but would you mind explaining to me what you mean? Are you saying that you do or don't ship the "pairings" in the secret? Do you not because they're friends? Do you only ship them as friends?

I'm sorry I'm confused... T_T;;

Orz, I'm such a dumbass.

What I mean is, I ship most of those pairings, and I love to ship best friends and pretty much everyone who has some sort of UST. But at the same time, sometimes I think that leaving them to be 'just friends' can be just as effective and just as, if not more, dramatic.

Does that make more sense? I'm such a moron sometimes... I need to stop making secrets in the middle of the night, don't I?

And I agree with this secret.

Though, admittedly I am probably biased as my best guy friend and I tried to start dating, and it didn't work out, and I wish we had just stayed friends... We started over this last year, though, and we're good again, but still... We wasted two years because we were incredibly awkward about everything... Then it bugs me when two people are friends and everyone assumes there must be more to it than that. ^^;;

So, yeah, I agree. :3

Aww... I know how you feel. Me and my best guy friend were friends before we started dating, and then we broke up, and then we tried again, but through it all we were best friends first and dating second; I don't think I would've wanted to go out with him a second time if not for the fact that he's my best friend before anything else, and he always was. I hope everything works out for you, and I hope you guys are alright.

The problem was that a lot of people from early middle school age told us we should start dating. It was almost all I heard, and I don't know what he heard, but I would guess it was the same. That's why it bugs me when people try and say that best friends have to become romantically involved, because that was all I heard about him. Then, when we finally *did* get together, I felt odd about it, and now I realize it was because I was just trying to do what everyone told me (romance) rather than what I wanted (friendship). I really don't know how he felt about everything though... I wasn't a very good girlfriend. ^^;;

But, well, we're friends now, and pretty good ones. :) We're going to different schools, though, so now that we're friends again, we're splitting up. ^^;;

Yeah, same case here...darted my bff and I hate him now. I saw more of him, another side I don't like, and he's just...a dick. He hurt me bad, and we can't even stay friends anymore.

So I have a natural aversion to friend pairings that end up perfect...I try to remind myself that it's just fandom, but the experience kind of killed friend pairings for me even in fandoms. >< But if you like it OP, cool for you. =) More power to ya.

NaruSasu / SasuNaru however... is fail of epic proportions. Sasuke tried to kill him on multiple occasions and keeps shitting on his friendship. Sasuke doesn't deserve someone like Naruto now or ever. It's been abusive and one-sided way too long.

It is seriously an excellent pairing. I regret the lack of excellent fic for them.

Oh, I don't disagree that it's horribly dysfunctional, abusive, and uneven in terms of devotion and affection, but I do still like Sasuke, and I love Team Seven, and darn it, I want them all to be happy. Regardless, I don't really ship it in canon, so much as AU fics where Sasuke isn't as much of a douchenozzle as he's become in the series.

I really can't stand the idea of the series ending with Sasuke alive and/or happy, even though I like the character. Maybe it's because I don't have any faith in the author's ability to write and emotionally satisfying redemption arc.

I'm totally in the "I think Sasuke is going to die at the end of the series" camp. I don't think he can be redeemed either, though he'll probably be "redeemed" by seeing the error of his ways and smiling at Naruto through his bloody lips just before he dies. And I'd be okay with that. I agree that Kishimoto would probably never actually acknowledge that Sasuke is in the wrong long enough to redeem him properly, and people would just like... brush off everything he's done because ~omg saucekei~

I don't ship SasuNaru for almost the exact same reason, only in my case, it's because Naruto's obsession with Sasuke is seriously fucking creepy and makes the character look like a complete nutjob. Then there's Sasuke himself, who's an actively psychotic emotional train wreck. I honestly can't imagine them in any remotely healthy, functional relationship.

It took me a moment to actually understand what you were getting at, OP. But yeah, I agree. I ship friends at times too, but a lot of the times I adore friendships on shows just as they are.

Of course, this is coming from a girl who just recently texted one of her guy friends "Rah, rah, ah, ah, ah. Roma, roma, ma. Gaga, ooh, la, la. Want your rad bromance," just to make him laugh. So yeah, friendships are awesome.

May I ask for the name of the 3rd anime in the 2nd row and the 1st anime on the 3rd row? They look very pretty, and somewhat familiar. :)

As for the secret, I totally agree. Something about strong, reliable friendships is very comforting to me, and more often than not in those kind of relationships I'm fine with either the platonic or romantic route, as long as they show their affection in some way or another.

In some ways it is harder to commit to or hold on to friendships the way that people are expected to commit to romantic relationships; truly inseparable, familial, I-would-die-for-you platonic relationships are more extraordinary, in my experience, and that's why I find them just as interesting and inspiring in fandom

I didn't quite get this upon the first reading either, tbh, but I 100% agree that friendships can be just as strong as romantic pairings, and as much of a shipper as I am, it makes me sadface when people act like putting a certain pair together romantically is 'improving' the ship because it was inferior when they were just friends or whatever. Like, saying that Sam and Frodo are better when they're doin' it. But their love is already so awesome!!
