I guess I'm in the minority here, but I don't think OP is demanding or suggesting anyone change what they like, just expressing frustration that what THEY like isn't more popular and that (lj) fandom doesn't see things the way they do.

The same could be said about slash and people who ship it. I'm of the opinion that quite lot of people are can be pretty precious with their preferences, myself included...

I usually do a lot of fic requests in fandom and ever so often I would get a het request which is would normally refuse to do. A lot of people can get pretty iffy about that and I've had some trouble with a couple of people about it. I've had some people call me a heterophobe and misogynist (which I don't get because I write femslash). It really is just a preference. I guess some people just think that het is universally liked or something.

Most slashers I know normally don't care or they write both het and slash themselves. Fandom is an odd thing.

Ah, I suppose... to be fair, I have seen the occasional slash fan react to strongly to a reasonable excuse not to enjoy slash. I might have been one of their numbers, I don't know, but as far as I know my inclinations, I'm way more of a slash-shipper than het. I just roll that way. Point is, both sides here have their bad eggs and it'll be fairly naive to deny one side or the other is free of them.

But pfft, fandom. You can get indepth discussions on who should be sticking his dick in what. I just won't take it seriously anymore.

It sounds to me op is whining about why slashers won't care for their het? Which kinda sounds like it's suggesting to change their preferences to fit theirs.
