How do you know everyone is only shipping it for the porn?

> Straight women schlicking to fictional gay men having gay sex isn't helping any real gay men

You're saying it's supposed to? Does it make a difference if it's a gay man or a gay woman fapping to it?

>Good to know lesbians don't matter, so who cares about femslash, but the precious gay men must always be a dominant force in fandom.

Where the hell did you even get the whole lesbians didn't matter shit? Some people just don't enjoy femmslash.

If the genders of the characters are such a big deal because of the viewer's sexual orientation, hence "I don't ship het or femslash because I'm a straight female so I have no sexual attraction to women!", that kind of indicates that porn is the only real value the viewer is getting out of shipping.

You're saying it's supposed to? Does it make a difference if it's a gay man or a gay woman fapping to it?

My point is that people in this thread are claiming that it's somehow right and just for fandom to be filled with slash because irl gay men are marginalized, and that is stupid.

Where the hell did you even get the whole lesbians didn't matter shit? Some people just don't enjoy femmslash.

From the aforementioned argument that it's somehow right and just for fandom to be full of slash because irl gay men are marginalized.

...There are people who like to see the relationship develop between two guys and what goes on in their head as guys, I suppose? The good-looking characters sort of strengthens the appeal for these people, which doesn't seem unusual to me because nine-times-out-of-ten, the appeal of any couple whether it be m/m, f/f, or f/m, is how good they look together, depending on one's taste shipping them?

I don't really know, I just know what I want the most, and I pretty much ship m/m for the emotional aspect of it and it's what gets me moving the most.

Do people really need a good reason for personal preference?

Ship f/f if that's what gets you feeling. Ship m/f if that's what you really want to read. Ship f/mtf or ftm/f or mtf/m or ftm/m or ftm/mtf or mtf/mtf or ftm/ftm above all other kinds if that's what's making you happy, so long as you respect that people have their own personal choices on what they can relate to, what they find most emotionally engaging for them, and or of course, what they find looks hot.

Uh, not really. I think we can agree that a lot of straight people out there are pretty squicked out by m/m and only enjoy het literature. Are you saying they're only in it for the porn too? Or does this only work on straight, slashing fans? Depending on the sexual orientation, relationships can be different. I'm not saying everyone isn't in it for porn, it's just a preference that we all have.

You should have probably stated your point before. And yea, hetero relationships are everywhere on tv, you're saying that it's bad that people are a little bit ok with having more gay fic in fandom? And for the last time, lesbians do matter. Some people just aren't into it. Fandom=/= real life.
