Maybe we hang out in different places, but any wank that lasts on the 9 Forum (where, lets face it, the entire fandom is) has lasted for maybe a day, give or take a few hours.

Yeah, it's not the tight-knit place it used to be, but if you think that fandom has wank, then you haven't seen the complete shit other fandoms can cause.

These kinds of fandoms pop up every now and again, like beautiful little mushrooms.

But they don't last, because the source material is too small and the creators move on and it's the sort of ephemeral thing I love about internet fandoms.

You'll find another one in a few more years, and another, and another. It's just that you have to put in some work to make friends who talk to you outside of the fandom, and you can travel along together and investigate other IPs. Sometimes this is easy and sometimes it isn't, but it's all about having the right perspective on things. ♥

I miss this fandom, too. It was honestly one of the first that I actively participated in, and everyone in it was unimaginably nice.
I used to be relatively active on the forum, but I kind of grew away from it. I miss it dearly.
Reading this, I'm a bit reluctant to go back. Is it really as bad now as this secret makes it seem?

I don't think it is, but that's because I've been lucky enough to find some good fandom friends to hang around.

People are always really happy to see older members come back, so I say if you wanna make a re-entrance, I say go for it! :) I promise you'll be welcomed back with open arms.

Oh my gosh, I admit, I've been so looking forward to seeing a 9-related secret on here. And I'm so glad to see it's one with a positive attitude about the fandom.

I am in absolute agreement, 9 has been one of the friendliest, most positive fandom experiences I've ever had and I'm so glad to be a part of it. It's still pretty active, actually, though most of it is fanon-related. I find myself missing the in-depth discussions we had about the film and its characters.

This was such a flash in the pan fandom, it was really a shame. The movie was just so wonderfully done, I get an artist boner every time. EVERY TIME.

It's interesting though. I used to be a big member there, writing fics and such. But now it's cool to go on DA and see people I watch, think their art is cool, go back a few pages and find out that they were in the fandom too, that I knew them there first. So interesting. Haha

I agree with the artistic values of the movie. It was absolutely gorgeous and I loved it on the whole.

Unfortunately I never got into the fandom, and seeing this secret I'm kind of sad I didn't. I'm sure there are a few 'closeted' fans out there that simply didn't know it existed to begin with. :/

Honestly, I have no idea what this secret is talking about. The fandom is still really nice, at least around the main forum (http://movie9.proboards.com/index.cgi), and yeah, some of the older members have gone away, and I miss them, but there's lots of wonderful people that joined up recently. The movie is two years old, we should consider ourselves lucky that there are even enough people for there to even be a fandom for this lovely, silly movie.

Hell, two people who met through the 9 fandom when it started recently announced they were getting engaged and everyone is being super supportive of them. So, yeah, I have no idea where this person got the idea that the fandom is no longer a good community.
