Maybe we hang out in different places, but any wank that lasts on the 9 Forum (where, lets face it, the entire fandom is) has lasted for maybe a day, give or take a few hours.

Yeah, it's not the tight-knit place it used to be, but if you think that fandom has wank, then you haven't seen the complete shit other fandoms can cause.

I hate Dirge of Cerberus (although I love some of the characters in it), but it made me ship it, too. There is nothing wrong with only starting to ship a pairing after they get more than about two lines of interaction.

I'm not sure if I understand this secret. Does OP mean Japanese artists within a Western fandom or do they mean from the Japanese fandom? If it's the latter then I think your secret is stupid. One look at Pixiv makes it obvious that there are tons of Japanese artists who are neglected. And it makes sense that only the really good stuff would be brought over to the Western fandom.

Basically it just sounds like you're making excuses for yourself...

Well, the manga did establish that ChibiUsa would eventually become Sailor Moon. Kinda a given she'd have her own senshi. And, considering their arc, not really that much of a surprise that it turned out to be them. *shrugs*

...nor doth it sleep. I started reading fan fic and watching vids and the show like crazy after the show was over, precisely because I wanted what I did and involved myself in to be about the characters and their stories, rather than any (ANY) engagement with the actors or the production of it (that is, waiting for the next episode....wondering whether it would suck and so on). Not that I mind actors and whatnot, I'm very grateful to them for their involvement, and bringing the characters to life. But after Supernatural, and all (ALL) the HOOPLA about Jensen and Jared, I'm a little tired of the whole "IT's ALIVE" feeling to it, and can't wait for Supernatural to be over. But I'm falling in love with SGA more every day and I like that the fandom is mostly about the show, the characters, the stories, the fan fic, vids, drawings, and other fannish works. It's about the fans and fandom, right about now, and not being behind or in front of any velvet rope because you either do or do not have any connection with the actors.
