Cunt is such a delicious word. It's powerful, and fun to say, and if you use it correctly (like everything, you shouldn't overuse it *g*) it gets such a good reaction. It's so feared in North America though that it's actually hilarious.

I'm in Canada, so we're not as puritanical as the states (as of right now, I am sure our wonderful overlords current government would /love/ to change that. But with this word? We definitely are

After years of hearing men throw that word around all over the place (I don't live in the US, so it doesn't have the same impact), I kinda wish it would go die in a fire. Can't stand it, although I'd say the same for most euphemisms for female genitalia created/used by men. Somehow, seeing a word that gets randomly yelled out car windows at me every so often really throws me out of a story.

Ugh, that sucks. I can definitely see how you'd feel that way.

I think the only truly offensive thing I've had yelled at me was "whore" but it was by a bunch of 12 year olds who thought they were just hilarious and probably doing it on a dare (as I was fully clothed?). Maybe it's the stereotypical Canadian politeness =P

I loooove the word "cunt," but I can't handle it in porn. Then again, I'm one of those people who likes either straight-up names or just allusions without any genitalia terms at all. I prefer "cunt" restricted to dialogue and stuff.

I'm in Canada, and seeing that word in a fic makes me feel like one of the characters just up and SLAPPED the other. Outside of fic, I have NEVER personally seen that word used as anything other than a viciously hateful insult.

"Feared in North America" for good reason, I'd say. It's nothing but a slur to me.

I just saw this, hence the delayed response.

I don't hear it pretty much ever. And I am not a huge fan of pretty much any other slang word for vaginas (mostly just because I don't like the sound of them, with pussy, it's the "sseee" sound, it's too soft and it's like how people dislike the word "moist"). I also don't find it anymore offensive than bitch, which is way overused. Cunt to me, is like my version of the LGBT community taking back the word Queer.

(fyi, I am actually a lesbian)

I also find there's a huge double standard with, it's not necessarily "okay" but it's not reviled for someone to call someone else a dick. But you call someone a cunt? Which is pretty much the female version? And everyone goes running. It's ties back to puritanical days. And while I obviously can see that calling anyone either of those names is an "insult", I don't understand the difference. And I do know how to watch my mouth around people, so if someone is not okay with it, I would not use it in front of them. But I will still continue to use the word when I'm with my friends that are okay with it.
