You're just telling me that you catch some bad drafts when you post your het stuff in your own threads. Those are just the outliers, not all slash fans are like that. Come on, it's not those comments that are really the problem, it's the fact that you like something considered unpopular in your fandom. I think fans of rare pairings can relate.

No, but my options as you put them boil down to 1) shut up and be happy with what you have or 2) don't fall in love with a canon unless you know ahead of time that the fandom will be full of plenty of like-minded fans to interact with.

I'm not saying I want all the fandom to think the way I do. I just want to have fun in fandom. That's the point, isn't it? I'm not telling the slash people I want them to go away or I think they're gross (I don't!) but this particular fandom doesn't seem to have a place for a het fan. If I were a slash fan, would you tell me "tough luck, find a new fandom?" Or would you have anything more useful to say?

In a nutshell: yes. As an example, I ship some femmeslash pairings, and it's no surprise that I've had to keep my love to myself a lot and move on to other fandoms where there's a chance of getting an audience. And again, the rare ships, I hardly ever find anyone to talk to about those. It's kinda tough, but we deal like the big girls/boys that we are.

But honestly? I'm being as frank as I can possibly be with you. I don't know what you expected but the truth is there is hardly anything else to say in response to: "Why don't more people like what I like?" Of course you wouldn't like it, but it's not just you.

If you don't think there's any other way to look at/feel about this then... okay.

...It's shipping, I doubt it'll emotionally scar a person if they don't have as much people to talk about one orientation of pairings over the other with, which has more fans.

Honestly, telling someone to simply ignore it and continue to dabble in things they like rather than telling other people to ship a ship they ship seems like a sound option especially when it comes to fandom.

I don't understand why it needs to be brought to extremes? What does "feeling left out" have to do with "emotional scarring". Is it only okay to feel something, anything when it's at an extreme?

Honestly, it you think there's only one way to feel/talk about that than, okay. Telling someone to simply stop wasting their time, and invalidating and condescending upon them which does leave legitimate reasons for being more upset isn't sound.

Because fandom isn't the end-all to be happy in regards to a series, book, video game, film, comic, what-have-you, but that's just me. I could go on how there are some ships I ship, but many others don't, but what it boils down to is that you cannot make other people ship things you do if they don't want it and it's better off 'feeling left out' in my opinion, than to step on a few toes just to make statement about wishing there were less fans of something you don't like.

So... extremes again. Nothing that isn't the "be-all-to-end-all" is worth feeling anything about.

I really don't understand how you're getting that I'm taking this to the extremes when all I'm saying in a nutshell is stop being a drama queen over trivial things such as shipping, and I'm not talking about you, I'm tying this into the secret posted itself. No, I think you you're saying these things because you don't care about the experiences of the people you say those things to, and it seems you're making a bigger deal out of it than they are. If someone says "I feel ____" there are less condescending ways to respond.

It sucks when other people are not interested in the things you like, but how is whining about the slash fans going to change that? Your problem has absolutely nothing to do with slash. You can try and find some like-minded fans, but if you don't find any, it's not because there's no place for het in the fandom due to an overabundance of slash. It's because not a lot of het fans are drawn to this particular fandom. So, deal with it or move on. That's really all you can do.
