As someone who was raised Catholic, I have to say, I laughed so hard at this.

I don't know if you're serious or not but...I completely agree. I actually started thinking of it all like fandom awhile back ago and I've found myself much more into my spirituality because of it. It might be silly but it's worked for me.

I agree about the fanfiction getting mixed up with canon thing, though I have to admit that's always confused me. Especially the whole thing with Satan being Lucifer and Lucifer being a fallen angel since I thought that was all from Milton's Paradise Lost but I've had people correct me, though I can't remember where exactly any of that is in the Bible.

"Satan," the 'accuser,' is actually a term of office, so to speak. Like prosecuting attorney. Lucifer is supposedly his angelic name, but the original Latin, lucem ferre, just means 'light bringer' and was originally a term for the planet Venus. You'll notice that Venus is visible near the horizon at dawn and sunset, as though it's falling; hence, the Morning Star moniker. It got conflated with the story of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who 'fell from grace,' i.e. was overthrown, and as translations were translated from previous translations lucem ferre became a name. Some say Samael was his name after the Fall, others say Samael is an entirely separate entity.

The only mention of anyone falling in the Bible is the mention of a falling cherub (I think), and the only angels actually named are Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael (I think; Raphael may only be mentioned in the apocryphal Book of Tobit and not official Biblical canon). There's no Biblical mention of a war in Heaven. Pretty much everything we 'know' about angels, demons, and Hell comes from exegetical works and often poetry and art: note The Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost, and The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, for example, plus like 90% of Byzantine art before 1200 CE or something.

Again, it's been a while since I've played around with this subject and Biblical history isn't my strong suit, so I may have gotten bits wrong. Feel free to correct me.
