Someone threatens suicide? You get the fucking ambulance, you get the hotline. YOU DON'T TELL 'EM TO SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO K/J/WHATEVER POP. I am so angry right now, because if it's true, OP, you may have let someone die that didn't have to.

Never treat suicide as a joke.

"Let someone die"? Please. The only person who "let someone die" is the OP's friend. It isn't OP's fault or responsibility to keep their friend commiting suicide. Blaming OP for their friend's suicide is wrong, and so is calling OP a bad friend for trying to help in the only way they could think of at the time.

Was telling her to listen to k-pop a stupid thing to do? Yes. But not everybody knows how to deal with depression or suicide and not everybody is going to make rational decisions in that sort of situation. It's hardly their fault.

No, you are right, it was a bit harsh. :/ I had my emotion hat on. I retract that part of my statement.
But personally? I think the OP should learn a valuable lesson from this (if it wasn't a troll) that leave it to the experts.

Failure to do the right thing when you CAN do it is a form of inaction. You see a crime, or someone getting hurt or in a dangerous situation?
EDIT: because I think I need to clarify my stance.
But not everybody knows how to deal with depression or suicide No they don't. But I would think someone whould have the good sense to
A) Seek professional help (they are professionals for a REASON)
B) STAY WITH THE PERSON
C) Tell family members/trusted friends

You call for help.
Suicide is the same thing.
it's irresponsible to assume it will work out okay if you KNOW someone is going to do it and don't report it/call for help.
Better for a friend to live to hate you, then for them to die.

Been in OP's shoes; dealt with the same ending. Difference? I did everything I could to help. Not pass along music and 'hope' for the best.

But there is a lot of people who call suicide often for a very trival matter - attention whoring. They act all depressed, tell that they will kill themselves baww baww, and after some time with such person it just gets...repetative and boring. You can't cheer them up, they get all whiny, so you just want to give them something that could maybe cheer them up, and disappear from the view for some time, until they feel better.

Maybe OPs friend was such a person, calling suicide every time something bad/sad happened, how could they know that this time they will be serious about it?
