This is a little late, but...
If you came to F!S simply to get something off your chest, I hope you feel better.
If you came to F!S to punish yourself, I daresay that this thread has provided you with a lot of material. If this is the case, you should know that the people (anon or otherwise) who bashed and blamed you are assholes, and they were totally and completely in the wrong. To be more charitable, they had a lapse in judgement.
I want to stress this as much as I can. It was not your fault. It was not your fault. It was not your fault. I know it might be very hard not to feel guilty, but please try not to beat yourself up over it. And please, don't seek out "beatings" from others. You need to grieve and heal, and furthermore, you deserve it.
And for the record, you obviously cared about your friend. You still care about her. I bet that you weren't a bad friend at all.
I am so sorry for you loss, and I wish you the best of luck.
