Do you feel uncomfortable around heterosexual people after reading fictional material about heterosexual couples because it's like you've exploited their "entire identity"?

This is kind of a silly comment. If OP is heterosexual (which, in the context of the secret, seems reasonable to assume) then it's not the same thing at all. It would be more like the arguments that straight men who get off to lesbian porn are exploiting lesbians.

I mean, I don't think that slash is exploitative, but it's not wholly unreasonable to be concerned that a non-gay person "fetishizing" gay sex to get off might be offensive to some gay people. The way I read the secret, that's what the OP was concerned about, and the "entire identity" thing was just hyperbole. But I could be wrong about that, I guess.

Pretty much this. This is why it sucks so much that shaming continues to go on over what people like to read. Just reading a lot of slash doesn't generally have a negative effect on anyone's life, honestly.

1. You like to read slash. 2. Your friend is gay, but first and foremost, he's just your friend, the same friend as always. 1 and 2 don't really have anything to do with each other, and don't let anyone tell you that they do.
