Well, not all my gay friends know, but some do. One of them had me beta his original fic, which to be fair was a bit awkward. Especially cause I'm older and...ehhmm, have done more stuff.
But I don't think there's anything inherently bad about them knowing...just make sure they know you're not using them specifically as fap material (if you are actually doing that, you might want to not mention it).

Yeah....as to what some other people are saying, don't tell him you read slash. Some gay guys would be creeped out or even offended after hearing that. And yes you should know it is just as exploitative as lesbian porn that's aimed to please men.

To be fair, maybe you aren't used to being around gay guys. I've been friends with them throughout high school and college so I have a hard time understanding how they could make anyone except the ultra conservative religious fanatics uncomfortable. Anyway, if you value your friendship, try to learn to deal with your own insecurity, ok? :/
