I feel the same way. I'm not one of the super active members of this fandom, but every time I see someone talking about SGA as if it's an abandoned wasteland I get really angry on behalf of the people who are still debating it and creating things for it.

Just because they're not pan-fandom BNFs don't mean that they don't count, or that what they create isn't good.

On some level I'm actually happy that this isn't a mega-fandom any more, because it means that the people who were only here because it was considered cool are gone. Sure, it means less fic, but it also means less horrible OOC McShep slash written by people who've taken all their characterization cues from Astolat.

Testify!

Astolat is fine, people love her writing, and she's good. But....yeah, seriously. She set a trend and so many writer's follow it, and it gets old real fast to see McShep acting in the same, predictable ways, over and over. (I think the same happens in a lot of fandoms....some writer hits on a good formula, and that's what becomes popular.) At any rate, while A's writing is super shiny and fun to read, sometimes, heck, a lot of times, I can't connect with it because I don't feel that any of it really means anything to her. I'd rather read a less polished writer who is putting her (or his) heart into it and have the work resonate with me.

I'm getting...uninterested in writing for that fandom. But that's possibly because I ship John/Cam like its my job, but I feel like I've read everything there is to read and written it, too.

Although I am working on a really big story right now, so hopefully that will suck me back in.
