(Anonymous) 2011-07-21 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)Astolat is fine, people love her writing, and she's good. But....yeah, seriously. She set a trend and so many writer's follow it, and it gets old real fast to see McShep acting in the same, predictable ways, over and over. (I think the same happens in a lot of fandoms....some writer hits on a good formula, and that's what becomes popular.) At any rate, while A's writing is super shiny and fun to read, sometimes, heck, a lot of times, I can't connect with it because I don't feel that any of it really means anything to her. I'd rather read a less polished writer who is putting her (or his) heart into it and have the work resonate with me.
