My grandparents have been married for over 50 years and my grandma is a total extrovert social butterfly and my grandpa is a total introvert and goes along with whatever makes her happy (not that these things make him unhappy). He's not exactly stoic but he doesn't usually say more than he has to (I mean, he can be chatty with his family -- making a joke or talking about his day/week/whatever).

I think that kind of a relationship can work great if the people involved have enough similar interests/likes/dislikes to keep them together. They can help balance each other out as long as they respect that their partner acts differently in social situations and doesn't get frustrated about it all the time.

EDIT: I have to admit I have no idea who that couple is so I might be talking about the wrong dynamic here.
